The frames echo a rectangular table, and beneath a circular travertine or limed oak top the meeting of circle and square adds a little tension. Chairs slide back without snagging on the thin weave. Seating six? Then go for 250 x 350 cm, so no chair leg drops off the edge. With no backing of its own, the rug needs a non slip layer on tiles or parquet to stay flat under chairs that are pulled in and out every day. Handmade in India, the flat weave is just 6 mm or so, all pure new wool, and suitable for underfloor heating. Fluff in the first weeks is the wool settling down and disappears with routine vacuuming.
