The border of Kilim Sapphire 915 is the first thing anyone notices. It tends to remain the thing anyone notices.
That particular blue — the kind that only happens on a loom, where hand-dyeing sends colour deep into the yarn rather than sitting on its surface — wraps the rug like a frame around a painting. Inside it, a field of diamonds in rust, ochre, teal and black against soft cream appears, at first glance, to repeat. Look more carefully and every diamond carries its own small variation, a flicker of colour that the weaver chose in that exact moment and nowhere else. That is the nature of a kilim. Nothing about it was ever intended to be identical twice.
Spun, dyed and woven entirely by hand in Afghanistan, Kilim Sapphire 915 has no pile to crush or shed — just a flat, tightly packed weave where the colour goes all the way through. Run a hand across the surface and you feel the structure rather than a softness applied on top. This is what makes a kilim last, and what makes it move so easily between rooms when the mood changes.
At 244 by 84 centimetres, this is a runner made for the in-between spaces that most homes have and most rugs ignore. A long entrance hall. The stretch alongside a kitchen island. A landing that has never quite settled on its identity. Wherever it lands, the sapphire border tends to resolve the question immediately.
