Red on the floor takes a little nerve, and Acsento Bubbles Brick makes it look easy: soft, rounded forms in brick red and terracotta drift over a cream ground, turning oxblood where they overlap, while a single coral shape adds a lift. The print has a gently worn texture, which takes the edge off all that warmth.
Under a dining table it turns Sunday lunch into an occasion, and in a sitting room with pale plaster walls and oak furniture it becomes the thing guests ask about. Teak chairs from the sixties are a happy match. Seating six round the table? Then the 240 x 340 cm. In the sitting room, 200 x 300 cm lets a sofa and two chairs stand on it, and in a smaller room 170 x 230 cm does nicely.
Woven by machine in Belgium, the rug combines acrylic, polyester and cotton. Its 8 mm pile stays low under dining chairs, the latex back keeps it from creeping, and it is happy on underfloor heating. A quick vacuum every few days and a prompt dab at spills will keep the red clear.
