Collection: Massimo Copenhagen Rugs
Danish calm, made by hand
Massimo Copenhagen is a Danish rug house with more than twenty years behind it and a simple conviction: a good rug should settle a room, not shout over it. New Zealand wool, bamboo silk, sisal, hemp and jute, colours taken straight from nature, and every piece made by hand. That restraint travels well. On the stripped boards of a Victorian terrace, under the beams of a country cottage or across the concrete of a new kitchen extension, these rugs simply fit.
For the sitting room
This is where a rug works hardest and matters most. Earth Natural is woven from wool that has never seen a dye bath, so its greys, beiges and ivory are simply the colours of the fleece, a quiet base for a linen or velvet sofa. For a little more polish, Earth Bamboo blends wool with bamboo silk in ten shades from sand to mustard. And if the room can take some character without any noise, Structures traces lines like a city map, Cloud 9 floats raised clouds across the pile and Atoll lets a few soft ripples run through a calm field of wool.
For the bedroom
First thing in the morning, bare feet want something soft. Rya, a high pile rug in the Scandinavian tradition, comes in cream, soft beige and charcoal and is made for exactly that moment. Karma, in pure bamboo silk with a washed vintage look, feels smooth and catches the light gently, while Karma Wool gives the same worn charm to dense wool in navy, burgundy, taupe and a deep oak brown.
For the hallway, landing and dining room
Where feet pass all day, a flat and hard wearing rug earns its place. Escape Kelim is a handwoven kilim in undyed wool with a contrasting band at each end, and it also comes as a 90 x 250 cm runner. Belize, in natural or taupe sisal, is available as a rectangle, a runner and a round, which sits beautifully under a round dining table. Sumace, hand knotted in hemp and jute with fringes, brings a raw texture that warms flagstones and Victorian tiles. Browse more runners and round rugs, or our Scandinavian rugs if the Nordic look is what drew you here.
Choosing the right size
Most designs come in several sizes, from a smaller rug for the bedroom up to 300 x 400 cm for a generous open plan space. Earth Natural, Karma and Belize are also made as round rugs. In a sitting room, choose a rug large enough for at least the front legs of the sofa and armchairs to rest on it. If you are torn between two sizes, take the larger one: the room will feel bigger and more settled.

Frequently asked questions
Where are Massimo Copenhagen rugs made?
Massimo Copenhagen is a Danish brand. The rugs are made by hand in India, woven, tufted or knotted depending on the collection. Because they are handmade, size and shade can vary slightly from rug to rug, which is the mark of genuine craftsmanship.
Which Massimo rug suits a sitting room?
For a calm, lasting base, Earth Natural in undyed wool. For more sheen, Earth Bamboo in wool and bamboo silk. If you want the rug to carry some style, Structures, Cloud 9 or Atoll bring pattern into the room without crowding it.
How do I look after a bamboo silk rug?
Bamboo silk does not like water. Blot any spill straight away with an absorbent cloth without rubbing, vacuum without a rotating brush and leave deep cleaning to a specialist. That way Karma, Earth Bamboo and Structures keep their lustre.
Are Massimo rugs suitable for underfloor heating?
Yes, every collection we stock is suitable for underfloor heating. You will find this on each product page as well.
Which designs come as a round rug or a runner?
Round: Belize (Ø 200 and Ø 245 cm), Earth Natural (Ø 300 cm) and Karma Light Grey and Nougat Brown (Ø 300 cm). Runners: Escape Kelim (90 x 250 cm) and Belize (90 x 200 cm, with Belize Taupe also in 90 x 300 cm).
