Ivory on ivory, with a secret. By day Heritage Ivory reads as a plain, softly lustrous rug in cream and pale beige, and then the sun moves round and a traditional pattern of vines and blossoms surfaces, tone on tone, like the weave in damask table linen.
It belongs in rooms where nothing raises its voice: a mansion block flat with pale parquet, a curved sofa in off white, full length linen curtains. The faint ornament stops a minimal scheme from feeling chilly, and it is equally gentle in a bedroom. Beside the bed, 160 x 230 cm is enough. A sofa and pair of chairs take 200 x 300 cm, and a large reception room 240 x 340 cm.
Most of the yarn, 88%, is recycled polyester, with ordinary polyester making up the remaining 12%. Belgian looms weave it by machine into a fine 6 mm pile on an anti slip latex backing. Warmth from underfloor heating passes through it without trouble. A pale rug repays a little care: vacuum it often, leave shoes at the door where you can, and lift spills straight off with a clean white cloth.
