Claret, coral and vermilion: Acsento Laguna Burgundy lays bright flecks over a deep burgundy ground, and they cluster into soft clouds so the colour appears to drift as the light moves across the room. Seen from the doorway it is one rich red, close up it is all movement.
Let everything else stay quiet around it: ivory upholstery, a stone side table, walls in a warm chalky pink. Dark stained boards will deepen the red further. It is a lovely rug for the corner of a sitting room where you read in the evenings, or at the foot of the bed. At the foot of a bed, 170 x 230 cm is right. Around a three seater and chairs, 200 x 300 cm, and if you have the floor, 240 x 340 cm.
Laguna is a fine, flat weave of about 4 mm, made by machine in Belgium. Acrylic, polyester, viscose and cotton go into it, and a gripping latex back holds it down. It is suitable for underfloor heating. Use a smooth vacuum head, and should anything tip over, get a dry cloth onto it without delay.
