Up close it looks like woven rush matting. Acsento Siena 68 sets tiny blocks of sand, ochre and charcoal inside a grid of fine ivory lines that never run perfectly straight, so the geometry feels gathered by hand rather than ruled with a pencil.
Because the pattern is small and evenly spread, it suits rooms where a bold rug would crowd things: a compact snug in a 1930s semi, a guest bedroom, or the dining end of a kitchen extension. Pale birch, a paper pendant and low seating match its quiet mood. Its 160 x 230 cm size fits a guest room neatly, 200 x 290 cm fronts a sofa, and 240 x 340 cm keeps a table for six and every chair on the rug.
Woven by machine in Belgium, Siena 68 blends 75% recycled polyester with 25% polyester. The pile stands just 8 mm tall, a latex underside stops it wandering, and it sits happily over underfloor heating. Vacuum with the direction of the pile, and if a drink goes over, soak it up immediately with a clean towel.
