Seventies curves, done with restraint. Acsento Swing Cognac wraps broad bands of cognac brown around rounded ivory shapes, and the yarn is faintly mottled, so the brown has the patina of a much loved club chair rather than the flat tone of fresh paint.
It brings warmth to cool surfaces: grey porcelain tiles in a kitchen diner, or a pale concrete floor in a new build. Mustard velvet, caramel leather, walnut and a smoked glass lamp all suit it. Let the rug reach well past the ends of the sofa so the curves can flow, which in most sitting rooms means 200 x 300 cm, stepping up to 240 x 340 cm when space allows. In a bedroom, 170 x 230 cm is plenty.
Machine woven in Belgium, Swing combines wool, cotton, polyester and acrylic in a dense 11 mm pile, finished with a latex backing that keeps it from creeping. Underfloor heating is fine. A weekly vacuum is enough day to day, and a clean, dry cloth pressed onto a spill lifts it best.
