Dusty pink, cream and a gentle greige run lengthways across Decor Pilar Blush in stripes of varying width, so close in tone that they blur into one another. Two horizontal breaks divide the rug into three bands, and in the middle one the pink and the pale shades swap places, a shift you only spot on second glance. The short, even pile has a velvety touch.
With so little contrast, this rug settles into a room rather than announcing itself. In a kitchen extension with polished concrete or pale grey tiles, the pink takes away the chill, and it sits just as comfortably next to oak or walnut cabinetry. Put it around a slender wooden table with rounded chairs, or in a bedroom dressed in natural linen. Choose 200 x 280 cm under a table for four, 250 x 350 cm for a larger dining area, with 160 x 230 cm the right fit beside a bed.
In India, Pilar Blush is tufted by hand in 100% pure new wool and set into a cotton and latex base. Its 17 mm cut pile is deep enough to feel kind under bare feet, and underfloor heating suits it well. Small variations in size and shade come with handwork. Like any new wool rug, it sheds a bit at first. Vacuuming regularly with a smooth head, rotating brush switched off, takes care of that quickly.
