Bare feet and deep wool make the best possible start to a day. Loom Natural is built from thick strands of felted yarn in beige and cream, peppered with grey and charcoal, each cut to its own height so the surface rises and dips like a shingle beach. The pile is dense and springy, and it gives way generously under every footstep.
It suits a calm palette that needs texture more than colour. Picture a loft conversion with pale oak boards, a leather lounge chair and a low metal side table: the rug adds warmth without bringing in another shade. In a snug or bedroom, 160 x 230 cm is the comfortable size, and with a three seater plus armchairs go up to 200 x 300 cm.
Brink & Campman weave Loom in the Netherlands on an axminster loom, using felted pure new wool on a jute and cotton backing. The pile reaches about 45 mm and varies in height across the surface. It is suitable for underfloor heating. Vacuum gently with a smooth head and no rotating brush, and now and then give the rug a shake or ruffle the pile back up by hand.
