Morning, noon and evening each show a different side of Senso Level Natural. Its ground is sand coloured and warm, an oatmeal mélange with the occasional ivory fleck. One raised line, tone on tone, draws a wide frame near the edges, then a smaller rectangle set low inside it that steps just beyond the bottom edge. Low sun gives the relief a fine shadow, while at midday it almost vanishes.
Few rugs make a better bedroom companion. Slide 200 x 280 cm under a double bed so a generous strip shows on either side, then add washed linen, a wool throw at the foot and furniture in pale ash or oak. On stripped boards in a Victorian bedroom the beige becomes one soft, unbroken layer, exactly what a restful room needs. Wardrobe doors pass over the thin weave without catching.
Hand woven flat in India, this pure new wool rug is only about 6 mm thin. With nothing on its reverse, it wants a non slip underlay on smooth floors. It can lie over underfloor heating without any worry. New wool releases some fibres in its first weeks, nothing to be concerned about. Keep the rotating brush switched off when you vacuum, and catch spills straight away with a clean dry cloth.
