Hazel, camel and a touch of caramel blend in the yarn of Senso Planes Fur Brown, with paler flecks running through like undyed fleece. Three rectangles overlap and slide away from the centre, traced by a slim raised cord in exactly the same brown. Because there is no contrast, you find the pattern through shadow and fingertips. The weave is flat, dense and matt.
Warm brown and cream are old friends. Set it in a reading corner with a cream lounge chair, a pile of books on the floor and a window onto the garden, and pale walls suddenly look sunnier. On grey polished concrete in a kitchen extension it brings back some natural warmth, helped along by walnut, rattan and brushed steel. 160 x 230 cm is a good fit for a snug, 200 x 280 cm for a sofa with chairs.
Senso Planes is a flatweave, handmade in India entirely of pure new wool, roughly 6 mm high and with no backing. Being so low, it sits happily beneath dining chairs and lets doors pass without fuss, though a non slip underlay is wise on smooth floors. It is suitable for underfloor heating. Wool hides daily dust well, and any early shedding settles with regular passes of the vacuum.
