For anyone who likes neutrals but finds plain beige a little sleepy, Harlequin Zeal Taupe has the answer. Strokes of chocolate, mocha, blush and old gold are stacked like layers of rock in a cliff, with the odd mark of charcoal and pale grey, all on a warm ivory ground that lets each colour breathe.
That hint of blush softens a room full of hard surfaces. Try it on dark stained floorboards in a Victorian front room with a period fireplace, a leather club chair and a patterned armchair that can stand on it without any quarrel. A three seater with chairs wants 200 x 280 cm, while the 140 x 200 cm size works beside a bed. The 70 x 245 cm runner fits neatly along a galley kitchen.
Hand tufted in India, Zeal Taupe uses only pure new wool. Its pile reaches 17 mm, the backing combines cotton and latex, and underfloor heating is fine. Handwork brings minor variations in size and shade, plus a little fluff in the first weeks that regular vacuuming soon removes. Keep the suction gentle and the brush off, and when something goes over, dab it up right away with fresh kitchen paper.
