Against Farrow and Ball style painted walls in a dining room, with an oak table and ceramics, it brings character, and the dark ground is forgiving of everyday traces. 250 x 350 cm takes a table for six, 300 x 400 cm a larger table or open room, 200 x 300 cm a living room and 180 x 270 cm a smaller one. 140 x 200 cm fits in front of a fireplace. CLOTH is the collection Tom Morris, a London interior architect with his own studio, Morrisstudio, designed for Layered, and Ryg is its nod to the Welsh blanket and the colours of the North Wales coast. Weavers work this rug by hand on a pit loom, in Bhadohi, India, producing a dense, flat weave of 100% wool at roughly 6 mm. It is happy over underfloor heating. Each handmade piece differs a fraction in size and shade. Run the vacuum over it with the brush roll off, accept a few stray fibres from the new wool, and pat spills dry rather than rub.
