Clear blue with a few clouds is the forecast everyone hopes for, and Cloud 9 Day keeps it permanently. On a light blue ground, clouds in pastel pink and soft beige float past, some woven flat and some tufted into pile, so this sky has a texture you can feel underfoot.
It brings daylight into a room that lacks it, such as a north facing bedroom in a Georgian flat behind sash windows. Try it with white painted panelling, a rattan headboard and bedding in faded rose. In a snug, 140 x 200 cm sits in front of a small sofa, and in a sitting room 200 x 300 cm takes the sofa and a chair.
Its yarn is pure New Zealand wool, worked by hand in India with both weaving and tufting, for the Danish brand Massimo Copenhagen. Underfloor heating is perfectly fine underneath. Its handmade nature means slight variations in size and tint. A newly laid wool rug may moult for a few weeks, which a weekly vacuum, rotating head switched off, soon resolves. If you spill something, dab it up quickly with a clean, dry cloth.
