Ochre, saffron, old gold: deep mustard is the colour that makes grey rooms grin. Earth Bamboo Mustard Yellow is short in pile and tonal, and its bamboo silk catches the light, so the gold glows richer from one direction and softer from the other.
Try it in the sitting room of a 1930s semi with walls in warm grey, a bay window, a mid century sofa in navy and a teak sideboard. It works equally well in a bedroom with white bedding and dark wood. Choose 170 x 240 cm in front of a smaller sofa or 200 x 300 cm to bring a three seater and an armchair together.
Made on a hand loom in India for Massimo Copenhagen, a Danish label, Earth Bamboo mixes New Zealand wool and bamboo silk in equal measure. Warm floors underneath are fine, as it suits underfloor heating. Handweaving leaves its mark, so a little difference in size and tone is to be expected. Bamboo silk is sensitive to moisture, so never let it get wet and blot any accident straight away. Vacuum gently without the beater brush, and turn to a professional for deeper cleaning.
