The darkest sheep in the flock gave this rug its colour. Earth Natural Dark Grey is made from undyed wool, so its deep charcoal is simply the shade of the fleece, with lighter and darker fibres giving the short, dense pile a lively, tonal surface.
Charcoal grounds an open plan space beautifully. In a kitchen extension with polished concrete and a long oak table, or in an industrial style flat with black window frames and a cognac leather sofa, it brings depth and warmth at once. Take 200 x 300 cm for a seating area, 250 x 350 or 300 x 400 cm for a large room, and the Ø 300 cm round for a round seating group.
The wool is undyed New Zealand fleece, 100% natural, and Danish brand Massimo Copenhagen has it handwoven in India. You can lay it over underfloor heating, and it also comes in 170 x 240 cm. A handmade rug shows slight differences in size and shade. New wool sheds a little in the beginning, which regular vacuuming without a rotating brush takes care of. Never rub a spill: blot it straight off with something dry and absorbent.
