Coral pink blocks and lines scattered over pale grey, with a dark brown band holding it all together: Structures Fragment 3 is a designer rug with a sense of humour. The pattern reads like a corner of a street plan, playful rather than loud, and bamboo silk puts a soft glow into the coral, set against the wool.
It is made for bedrooms and dressing rooms: plaster pink walls, a linen headboard, light oak bedside tables and morning sun through a sash window. Take your cue from the brown band for darker accents, a cocoa velvet throw on the bed or a walnut tallboy. Beside a slate coloured sofa in a quiet sitting room, it brings warmth. The 170 x 240 cm size suits most bedrooms, and 200 x 300 cm a sofa with two armchairs.
Fragment 3 is hand tufted in India from New Zealand wool and bamboo silk in a fifty fifty blend, with a short pile, and it can be used over underfloor heating. Each rug passes through skilled hands, so each one varies slightly in size and shade. Keep water away from it. Blot spills dry immediately, vacuum gently with no rotating brush, and let a specialist rug cleaner handle a deep clean.
