Black jute is the natural fibre rug for people who usually prefer something sharper. Sumace Black is knotted by hand into a chunky, irregular texture, and the deep black gives it a graphic, almost sculptural look. The knots throw up a lively relief that catches the light, and fringes finish both short ends.
Try it beneath a white lacquered table with blond wood chairs, or below a light linen sofa where the dark base makes the furniture look lighter still. On the flagstones of a farmhouse kitchen, or in a hallway with whitewashed walls and wicker baskets, it grounds the room without fuss. Touches of terracotta or brass add warmth. A three seater with armchairs sits well on 200 x 300 cm, and 250 x 300 cm goes under a table for four.
Massimo Copenhagen has Sumace hand knotted in India, all hemp and jute, 100% natural fibre. Underfloor heating will not trouble it. The stated sizes exclude the fringes. Natural fibre prefers dry conditions: vacuum it without a brush, blot spills at once, and never wet clean it. Handmade, it will vary slightly in size and shade. There is also a 170 x 240 cm size.

We offer free delivery anywhere in the European Union on all rug orders. Every rug is carefully packaged and shipped with tracking. Delivery times vary by stock location and are shown on each product page. Rugs in stock at our showroom ship within 3 working days; items coming from external warehouses or production require additional processing time.
For deliveries outside the EU, local customs duties or import taxes may apply depending on your country’s regulations.
Returns
You have 30 days to return your rug from our standard collection, provided it is unused, undamaged, and returned in its original packaging.
