Under a busy family dining table, a dark floor is your friend. This Tapison Home Torino, reference 063.0078.3283, mixes espresso brown with charcoal in soft clouds, and fine bronze flecks catch the light so the colour never sits there dead and flat. Lines in the pile run like dry brushstrokes from end to end.
Picture a kitchen extension with steel framed glazing, a long oak table and a run of mismatched chairs. Here the rug quietly absorbs the crumbs and footprints of daily life. Contrast it with ivory bouclé and light wood, or keep everything tonal, say a walnut sideboard, olive cushions and a bronze lamp, so the room glows like an old library once the curtains are drawn. Under a table for six, 240 x 330 cm gives chairs room to pull back, and 280 x 380 cm covers a generous one.
Woven by machine for the Tapison Home collection, it is made of polyester with a dense, velvety pile of 11 mm and a brown bound edge. Underfloor heating poses no problem. Its colour stays put, and care comes down to a regular vacuum plus a quick blot with a damp cloth whenever a glass of red tips over.
