Is it charcoal or is it blue? Mostly the former, with drifts of denim and slate blue moving through the pile of Torino 063.0078.3656, the way a city sky looks once the streetlamps flicker on. Short tonal lines add a faint ribbed texture, and a soft grey bound edge finishes it neatly.
It sharpens a cooler, more graphic interior. In a new build flat with white walls, pale oak and black steel, it gives the furniture a frame, while a tan leather chair or a rust cushion pulls back some warmth. In a loft conversion bedroom it makes a low key base under the bed: 160 x 230 cm for a double, 200 x 290 cm if you want it to reach well beyond both bedside tables.
Part of the Tapison Home collection, Torino is woven by machine from polyester into a close pile 11 mm high. It works over underfloor heating and resists fading. A weekly session with the vacuum suffices, and treat any spill by pressing a damp cloth onto it, never rubbing. A quarter turn now and then evens out the traffic.
