Lamplight is where Torino 063.0078.7279 comes into its own. A cognac brown rug with caramel and ochre yarns glowing through darker chocolate, plus a hint of grey to keep it grounded, it seems to deepen after dark beside a fire, then turns golden and easy going by day.
Style it with what flatters cognac: bottle green velvet, cream bouclé, black metal and smoked glass, or the seventies pairing of walnut and mustard. It is at home in a book lined study, in a sitting room around a period fireplace, or under a dark wooden dining table. For a desk and reading chair, 160 x 230 cm is ample, and 200 x 290 cm handles a sofa with two chairs.
Tapison Home selected Torino for its dense polyester pile, 11 mm high and woven by machine. It suits underfloor heating and keeps its warm colour. Weekly vacuuming is plenty for most homes. Spills? Blot, do not rub, with a damp cloth, and every few months rotate the rug so it ages evenly.
