Chalk paint, washed linen, the inside of an oyster shell. Torino 063.0078.7565 from Tapison Home is cream edging towards ivory, and only when sunlight rakes low across the floor do faint clouds of oat and stone appear. From the doorway it reads almost plain, which is the point.
Up close, tone on tone shading and fine lines in the weave stop a light floor from looking flat or clinical, and a sand bound edge keeps everything seamless. Give it a bright, sparsely furnished room with limed oak, lime plastered walls, greige upholstery and a single sculptural lamp. On dark Victorian floorboards it lightens the whole room, which helps a small bedroom feel larger. Try 120 x 170 cm beside a bed, 200 x 290 cm in front of the sofa.
This Tapison Home Torino is a machine woven polyester rug with an 11 mm pile, safe to use on underfloor heating and resistant to fading. Light shades show marks sooner, so vacuum frequently and deal with spills the moment they happen by dabbing with a slightly damp cloth. Rotating it a few times a year keeps the pile even.
