Collection: Decor Rugs | Brink & Campman
Colour, and plenty of it. Decor is where Brink & Campman lets the pattern lead: geometric blocks, abstract compositions, flowing organic lines, in palettes that do not apologise. Thirty two designs, the largest Brink & Campman series we carry, and the one to look at if the room needs a focal point rather than a backdrop.
Hand tufted wool from India
Every Decor rug is hand tufted in India in 100% wool, with a pile between 1 and 1.7 cm depending on the design. Hand tufting is what allows the tight colour separation in these patterns, a hand loom would blur the lines. Wool brings the rest: it springs back under furniture, resists dirt because of the natural lanolin in the fibre, and takes dye deeply so the colours stay saturated for years rather than fading to pastel.
What a 1 to 1.7 cm pile means in practice
Enough depth to feel soft underfoot, not so much that a dining chair digs in. It is a pile you can vacuum normally. It will show footprints in a low raking light, which some people like and some do not. All designs are suitable for underfloor heating.
Where a Decor rug works
Living rooms above all, where a strong pattern has the floor space to be seen. A bedroom works too, with the pattern mostly hidden under the bed and the colour showing at the edges. For a dining room it depends on the household: wool takes a spill better than people expect, but a flatweave is the easier life.
Sizes and how to choose
140 by 200, 160 by 230, 200 by 280 and 250 by 350 cm, and five designs also come round in Ø 150 and Ø 200 cm. 160 by 230 cm is the British living room default. 200 by 280 cm if the sofa has armchairs either side. 250 by 350 cm for an open plan room. The rug should sit under the full seating group, not float in the middle of it.
Decor rug questions, answered
What is a Brink & Campman Decor rug made of?
100% wool, hand tufted in India, with a pile of 1 to 1.7 cm depending on the design.
Can a Decor rug go over underfloor heating?
Yes, all 32 are suitable for it.
How do you care for a hand tufted wool rug?
Vacuum regularly without a rotating beater bar, which pulls at tufted pile. Blot spills immediately rather than rubbing, and use cold water. New wool rugs shed loose fibre for the first weeks, which is normal and stops on its own. For a deep clean, use a specialist rather than a wet home shampoo.
Is a Decor rug suitable for a house with pets?
Wool holds up well to claws because the fibre is naturally resilient, but a tufted pile can catch. If a dog or cat is a daily factor, a flatweave is the safer choice.
